Lenton Priory and the Archaeology Beneath the Tram Lines

  • West Bridgford Library (map)

FULLY BOOKED

Visitors to this talk at West Bridgford Library will discover the story of Lenton Priory. One of the largest and richest monastic houses in the East Midlands, the Priory was closed by Henry VIII and its buildings lost. We’ll talk about the archaeology and artefacts uncovered in the construction of the NET2 tramline and in subsequent community excavations, and how these have changed our knowledge and understanding of the Priory and its once-famous Martinmas Fair.
